I took a break from my "re-writing" for the entry before this one, to write on something that the LORD has taught me and shown me and my heart and that it was not in the right place. God had showed me that my heart was selfish to want and daydream about a home selling business so much, especially when we did not need the money.
Then I am back to re-writing again, and this entry below from several years ago is on the topic of how a wife is a gift from God and not being prideful about it. I am going to write about how it ties with what God has shown me recently, the heart being selfish, and with the entry about not being prideful, and it will be short. (Quality vs. Quantity!)
When I was thinking about a home business A LOT recently, I would talk A LOT about it, too. "Maybe this company.... or that one.." I would talk to my husband A LOT. He actually was suggesting giving, as for what I wrote down on the original entry below "A way that a wife can have a correct perspective is by focusing on being a giver." A book I want to read is One Thousand Gifts by Ann Voscamp.
Original entry:
It is prideful
for a wife to think that she when she is prudent is a gift from herself to her
husband. I have found that when I think
that I am a gift, a gift from me not from God, I am relying on myself for my
strength and energy, and that is not good.
But when I acknowledge that every good and perfect gift is from God, including
myself when I am prudent, there is rest and peace for me, leaving what God’s
Word says to be true and be only concerned with being pleasing to Him in every
way by His power working in me.
A way that a
wife can have a correct perspective is by focusing on being a giver. A wife does not have to have a lot of money
in order to be a giver. There are lots
of things every wife has that she can give that is not money. A wife has lots of things in her possession,
given to her by God that she can give to her husband, and they are time, love,
care, peacefulness, diligence, work, and a safe place to rest.
Thanks for sharing! Father, give us generous, unselfish hearts!
