Why is Submission to Husbands Godly?

Submission has not always been easy for women in this decade to understand, I think.  Women in this decade are encouraged to be dominant and to be followed by their husbands rather than to follow their husband.  I used to not know why submission is godly and now that I know does not mean I have accomplished it perfectly, but understanding why it is makes it very appealing to me to want to learn it more and more.
Submission is godly because Christ submitted to His Father when He was asked to come to the earth to die for our sins.  His submission is an example to us wives as we try to understand submission to our husbands.  Christ showed trust to His Father, and that is what we are to do for our husbands—trust them.
I think also that a reason submission to husbands is godly, why it would be a command in God’s Word, is that it is a great encourager to a husband to show the relationship that should be from the church to Christ.  My husband recently made known to me something that made me want to submit.  He shared with me something that ended up being a huge motivator for me to be submissive and submit.  He told me that he understands that submission is hard, and he understands that it is a lot to be asked of someone.  He knows this, because he is required from God’s Word to submit to God as wives are required to submit to their husbands.  I am so grateful for my husband’s faith in God’s Word that God’s Word is true and right and should be obeyed.  I am so grateful that he did not give up on this command in God’s Word—the perfect plan God has for a husband and his wife, when lots of husbands in this world are timid and afraid to say something to their world-influenced wives.

If you are a wife, and you would like the freedom in obeying God’s plan in this area, start by submitting to your husband and even talking to him about wanting to start.  It will help him be a leader when he knows you want to follow him.
